Be an asset in a relationship

Many times we encounter situations where a personal and professional relationships just don’t work out. Add to it the complexity of our lives and we find it hard to take time to reflect on things. The things we always overlook is how are we viewed in that relationship?
If you have become a constant cost of time, energy and money, chances are that your relationships will suffer. No one wants to deal with situations where they are forced to take care of others concerns at their expense.
In professional settings, you are a cost to your company if you are not able to deliver. This in time will lead to the employee-employer relationship failing. Now, imagine a scenario that you are a revenue producer and constantly accomplishing in your field. This would make you an asset to the company and the employee-employer relationship will be based on taking care of each other.
In personal situations, it is important to understand that your family will be supportive but you need to take responsibility of understanding what is important to them. Definitely, stay away from situations where you are a cost on them…think about your moods, your reactions to their requests and your willingness to help. Imagine! with a little bit of an effort we can have enriching relationships based on mutual concern.
Think of it as a Balance Sheet of life, are you going to have these relationships in the Liabilities section or the Asset section?
