Entrepreneurship the Richard Branson way
I am reading Richard Branson’s book “Screw it, let’s do it“. I am totally loving the book. Richard is not only a role model but also someone who I would like to meet someday.
His story from a boy who started a magazine to “Student” to Chairman of “Virgin” is a thrilling adventure.
Here are some reasons why he totally inspires me and what I learned:
1. Calculated Risk taking: Every entrepreneur has to take risks but we need to be able to have a business plan in place that helps us shape the risk we are taking and how we will make money.
2. Think but don’t think too much: As a founder, you always have gut feeling that will guide your decisions. It is possible it is not 100% accurate but if you believe in an idea – JUST do it.
3. Believe in your vision: It is possible that what you wish to accomplish is not going to happen in the short-term. If you believe in your vision, then the opportunity might present itself for you to realize your vision. So, think beyond what is possible and believe in your vision.
4. Make every day count: We are here in this world for a finite period – so it is important to make the most of every moment – do what lights your day. Don’t get bogged down with your tasks and postpone doing things that you love most.
5. Spend time with your family: No matter what we do, we must try to spend most of our time with our family. It is impossible to have a whole life without people who love you the most. After all, what fun it is to get on the top all by yourself.
This is a must read book and I would say, get your copy NOW.

With the current globalization and technological advancements, we are seeing an exponential growth in diversity in our world. Most importantly, this book is a thought provoking resource for managers and those who work with a diverse group of people, be it in the workforce, community projects, team building assignments, social gatherings, or business meetings.
