I am thankful to Roger C Parker and William Reed for their eBook review. As my maiden experiment with this format, I am thrilled to get their encouragement and reviews. This only makes me better. Writing books is a lot of work and needs a discipline that I had to develop to pursue it. A sense of creativity comes from silence. This silence is not relief from the voice from TV, neighbors music system or even your cell phone. This silence comes from within. When you put your mind chatter to rest and put something on the paper. As I develop this habit, I find myself in creative zones that I wasn’t aware of. I still remember when a long standing friend of mine casually suggested, “You should “write”". I have traveled a long distance from there. As I go along, it is always wonderful to share the journey and get reviews that encourage you on the path and give you new ways of looking at things.
If you are writer or an aspiring writer, read along and you might find some useful takeaways…

In my recent trip to Hawaii – Customer Service Hit a Home Run
In a recent trip to Hawaii, I had the most amazing customer service experience in the First Class seating of United Airlines.
Firstly, it is just exhilarating to be going to Hawaii.
Secondly, being upgraded to First Class at the last minute – simply mind blowing.
Finally, having the customer experience that is just outstanding – that takes the cake. If you have been on flights where the personnel are rude, unfriendly, where you are treated like cattle and the service is rubbish, you will get what I am going to say.
As I got on the flight, I saw this pleasant face that greeted me with a smile at 9:30am. She took my jacket and gave me a glass of champagne. Yes, that is one of the reason why Hawaii is a popular destination…As I sunk into the seat and saw the plane take off, I saw miles and miles of ocean underneath. And then before the meal was served the captain had a plan to play a game where the passengers were given Distance and Speed and they had to calculate the Hawaiian time (precisely to the second) when the plane would be mid-way. Then he offered a CD to the winner as a reward. Me and my husband, got into it – the engineer in both of us took over the lazy traveler.
We got our heads into it and the air hostess kept smiling as she saw the passion and the energy with which we were feverishly making calculations. She came to us when we were done and simply smiled and said, “I am going to take your answer to the captain, I want it to be on the top. I am confident you are the winners”. We smiled and just wished that other people will be in a vacation mood.

Enough of doom and gloom – Get a burst of motivation
When I see the news these days, I am surprised that there is nothing but “DOOM” and “GLOOM”. The major headlines focus on rising unemployment rates, lack in consumer confidence and all things related to recession. Well! Freud once said, “the best way to control the public is to scare them”. And this is perfect scare tactic.
So, I bring to you a breath of fresh air – something that writers like Napoleon Hill and Dr. Wayne Dyer highly recommend – keeping a positive mental attitude. …

My ThanksGiving Gift: PINK and Grow RICH
This thanksgiving I am giving thanks to the Tribe that came together to help me conceptualize and write my e-book “PINK and Grow RICH“. This e-book came out of my conversations with many successful leaders. While I was speaking to them, I felt something totally shifted in me – a sense of purpose. Why did this happen? I have no idea. But I knew that I wanted to bring to the world their insights so that others can feel the same “sense of purpose” that I had experienced.
Why this is a BIG deal?
Well! this eBook came about when I had no idea how I will connect with leaders and get their time to share their insights. I wanted to know what it took for these leaders to get where they are today. And so I reached out to my network if they would be willing to connect me with someone they thought was a leader. The first connection was VP of Sprint, I spoke to her and she shared her insights. I asked her if she knew other people and she pointed me to three new people. It was a matter of time that I had spoken to 30 such cool people. And it was the gift of connection that the Tribe shared with me to get access to these leaders. The Tribe was motivated by the common goal and that is the essence of every Tribe.
So, after endless cycles of compiling the information and weeks of writing… the e-book is finally ready and launched on Active Garage under the new Resource section.

My first article for Women Entrepreneurs in an Indian magazine

During my recent visit to India, I was invited to write for Indian women entrepreneurs…This was great opportunity and I was thrilled. Here is the copy of the article attached for those who don’t have access to this magazine. You might find something that might be of interest. The idea is to empower women to become Business Owners and NOT get caught in their limitations. Retail is a segment that is booming in India and has a lot of potential for entrepreneurs who are looking to exploit this opportunity. There has been no better times.

Opportunity to represent Asian American Women
A small segment of Total US population BUT a force to reckon with. I am honored and humbled to represent this population at the North Carolina Governor’s conference for women.
Sharing my presentation below:
My message was simple: This section is NOT spoken to like they need TO – They are ready for PRIME TIME.
An important point: Their BUYING power is expected to rise to $700B by 2014. Are you ready for them?

This week, I celebrated my Birthday (yesterday November 16th). Every year on this day, I celebrate it. But the past few years have been quite special. And the credit goes to Facebook.
If you have ever received Birthday wishes on FB, you are getting the drift.
Pre-FB Scenario
I was not in touch with a lot of friends. Some of them parted ways when we finished school and some parted ways when we graduated from college. And so people who you used to celebrate your Birthday with vanished. So, on your Birthday just a small sample of your family and friends who remembered or were in touch with you wished you.

Asian American Women – a Tribe ready for PRIME TIME
I am in Raleigh, North Carolina speaking at the North Carolina Governer’s conference for women. My role is to represent the Asian American women who are 5% of the Total US population.
As I started to think about how to represent this segment, I realized that the American Media has clubbed a large diverse community into one and coined the term – Asian American. There are many sub-groups like Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Cambodians, Koreans, Thai and Pakistanis who are part of this community.
And then I started to think of this Tribe as they have come to be known Asian American women Tribe. I started to wonder about their engagement on social media. I did a bit of research and found interesting that there are a lot of channels and organizations that support this Tribe. And most of them have presence on social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.
But here are some cool facts that about Asian American women tribe:

Every now and then, there is an event that brings forth an open dialogue and an opportunity to meet thought leaders. And I believe North Carolina’s Governer’s Women’s conference is one such event. I have been invited to speak at the conference Explore the Chasm—Change the World: Building Trust Across Race and Culture.
This topic is very close to my heart and as I thought about it – I am convinced that we have reached a point where “We have crossed the chasm – and the change is already there within us and in the world around us“. There is a growing SELF Trust among women ( given that American women have surpassed men in the workforce and they are more comfortable with the cultural conflict accepting both parts of their identity). This is the reason they TRUST the world to be a friendly place and in sum means that we have embarked on a new era for multicultural women to have freedom of self-expression and cultural identity.
At the panel, I am representing the American Asian women. This is 2% of the total labor population and YET is the second highest for meeting ethnic group in buying power…I am excited about this opportunity.
Being one of the many Asian American women in the US, I am excited to share my story of coming to America, facing some challenges, dealing with cultural stereotypes and then making these challenges an opportunity for self-growth to live a fulfilling life.

3 Reasons to take a leap of FAITH
It is important that we keep positive energy around us BUT even more important is to keep our faith. It is the faith that allows us to leap forward with passion and go against the obstacles that are ahead of us.
I am sure any work that you do, it has challenges. Infact if you are in a profession chances are that you are either confronting the constraints of your position OR if you are planning to start something you are faced with already existing competition. Neither of these situations allows you to not to take a leap of faith…still I insist you MUST.
Here are 3 reasons to do so:
1. MAKE a difference: In this interconnected world, every improvement you make in your life, improves the world at large.
2. Raise YOUR Frequency: High energy people counter balance the negative effect of low-energy people.
3. See the good in Others: When you have faith, you are in place of practicing love, receptivity and kindness in others as well as in yourself.
