Women entrepreneurs – some interesting statistics
Are you ready to start your own start up? Do you ever think how many women have their own companies? Do they raise capital?
Here are some interesting stats:
# 1 – Historically, women-led companies have received only 2.4% of venture capital investments; some years, they received no funding at all. *
#2 – 10.6 million firms in the US are at least 50% owned by women. This is nearly half of all privately-held firms in the country. *
#3 – 21.5% of women entrepreneurs received angel investment in 2006. ***
#4 – Women-owned ventures accounted for 12.9% in 2006 (up from 8.7% in 2005). ***
#5 – In tech startups, only 4% of firms had women in senior technical positions, ony 10% of firms had a woman CEO, President, or Founder.
Here is the good news:
We have a lot of room to start our companies, raise money and be leaders.
